As a current VCP 97H as well as 97D, this latest offering comes with a couple of key updates. The increased firmness in the hoop helps to further stabilize the hitting area as well as provides a crisper, less vague response at contact. The Servo Filter in throat supplants the VDM mess in the handle. Both reduce vibration which results in a fairly muted frame. The Percept’s advantage is it the improved dwell time still allows for some feedback and has a more distinct flex point mid-shaft. The combination produces a distinct feeling of comfort and improved ball connection. Side by side, the numbers for the Percept and outgoing VCP are near identical with a key difference, their swing weight. The Percept sheds a couple points which helps this brute’s maneuverability and doesn’t feel quite as lumbering as the VCP. This was most evident on serves and volleys, both for the better imho. All in all, a solid update to one of the last 12+ oz frames on the market today. A must try for the player seeking big plough through and stability with some nice new touches. Bravo Yonex!

From the firmer hoop for added pop & stability, to the latest Servo Filter tech, it’s a solid feeling stick & worthy of your attention!
