I did extensive research looking for the perfect racket because I am very particular and this racket is as advertised. After watching every review I could find online this racket meets every single expectation. Great pop, great control, no shimmy, no soreness in my elbows, good drive-through, good spin. Easy on every single stroke from serve to volley to ground strokes.
This newest KOTB from Yonex is a bit perplexing. On one hand, it’s part of their updated VCP lineup. Straight relatively thin beam, even flex, old school. Not so fast! Look closer and you’ll see it’s 2mm wider in the beam than it’s 97 counterparts. Couple that with a bump up in RA stiffness from 64 to 66 along with a firmer hoop resulting in something a bit different altogether. Rather than the buttery smoothness of the ‘21 VCP 100, what you get instead is a firm all around feel with a nice balance of pop and precision. A new school frame with some old school even-handedness. The 18x19 pattern definitely lowers your ball patch, yet still have access to spin. Where this racket really stood out for me was up at net. Like an extension of one’s hand! Accurate, consistent, even with your hands cuffed. Surprisingly stable yet maneuverable, LOVED IT. My one gripe is that it could use a little weight but all in all, a fine yet thought provoking stick!
