Great looking shoe but for $220 retail you are paying for the designer because you are not getting a quality insole or footbed. The thin, hard insole went in the trash and replaced with a Dr. Scholls Comfort insole which makes the shoe useable. It also gave it a little more arch support and slight heel raise. Without it the shoe is so flat so your foot slaps the pavement like a clown shoe. In the same price range I also bought the K-Swiss Pinnacle Lava. which actually feels like a premium shoe, soft underfoot, no mods needed.
I really enjoyed how fast this was for me to break in and start fully playing in without issue. I have played with k-swiss, Wilson rush pro 4.5s and other asics shoes before this, but for me personally this shoe has felt amazing so far, they are soft and comfortable, lots of stability in the ankle. Overall just very good for actually playing tennis. The laces are a bit awkward and I almost broke them because with the way they are sideways, they were very much in the way when I was sliding on hard court, but they withstood it. If this shoe just had straight laces but everything else was the same it would be a perfect shoe to me.
Runs small. I suggest ordering one half size up.
After 3 years of Asics Resolution 9 these feel way more comfortable, especially the toe box but they run half a size small. The heel support is great and the angled lacing is ok .Very low to the ground and flexible thanks to the upper mesh and I got the clay version which usually helps with that too.
Bought these after trying out the new asics resolution shoe and these fit so much better and feel more secure. They feel great now that I've worn them a few times too.
Made the switch because I'm not a fan of the new footbed on the Gel Res. So far loving the shoe. Break-in was quick and painless, I feel very secure on the court from day 1 (I slipped a couple of times when the gel resolutions were new). However, with just three weeks of play and just one competitive tournament, the laces broke in half. There was no fraying or warning sign, just a snap. Would buy again, but wither replace laces or keep spares in your bag.
I have been wearing Barricades for over 10 years. The new design is awful. Please go back to the Classic style, with straight laces and plenty of room in the toe box. This new design has destroyed my feet. I will not buy Adidas again until they offer the original design.
First off thank you to Adidas for re-launching the Barricade shoe line. I proudly owned the first iteration. Since then many of the new and improved models; and found this pair of 13 is the best by far. From the fit to the style I'm recommending this shoe...
The shoe doesn't take too long to break into. I recommend looking at the millimeter measurement and going 5mm above your measured foot size. Plays well with orthotics but doesn't require them to feel comfortable.
Great shoe. Comfortable fit. Easy to break in.
I've purchased Barricades for several years... probably 5 or 6 times. Have always been happy. This new design immediately caused rubbing sores in both ankles on the inside of my foot. There's a stiff support that has been added near the upper lace hole that makes them unwearable. Giving up after trying band aids and thicker socks.
I've been wearing the Barricades for years. While I haven't loved some of the most recent versions, these are a return to form of what I always loved with them originally but, these may have the best cushioning to date. Roomier fit than the last few generations it seems as well. Big fan!
