I've been stringing for other people for a few years now and I've always been a big fan of Gamma strings. I have a couple of ladies at my club that I string for and they wanted to try something different than they were using. They had never played with a hybrid before so I strung Live Wire in the mains and softer poly in the crosses. They both loved the combination, raving to other players about the control, feel, and power they were getting. I am going to string one of my rackets the same way and try it myself
I got a set of Gamma Syn. Gut 16g with the X-ST stringer I bought from Midwest Sports. Truth be told, it sat in a drawer for months until I decided to string it in a 14 yr. old Pure Control Team I keep at my in-laws. It sat over there for a year after I strung it before I took it out during a visit. I have to say I was more than pleasantly surprised at its feel and playability; so much so that I brought the racquet back home with me to use more b/c I liked the feel so much. ~50 hrs. of court time later and it's still going strong . For the price, this is a great all around synthetic. Highly recommended if you're looking for a no-nonsense string. This is a great playing string and a tremendous value at this price.
Was having trouble keeping strings in racquet. A friend put me on to these about five years ago. He too, played with a wide body racquet, and the durability of these are great. I have since changed racquets (about one year ago), no longer a wide body, and use these in the new one. Love the feel these strings give for drops, spins, overheads, just all shots. The durability is the best for me.
Excellent feel and control, along with comfort and good spin effect for Spin configured racquets. Used in Hybrid configuration with poly on the mains.
Good string. Add good spin. But not as durable as I had hoped.
This is probably the best synthetic string money can buy. The 17 version feels just like a natural gut. Keeps tension well. Lasts fairly long with denser string patterns; breaks rather quickly with very open string patters. I tried at least 2 dozen different strings. But since I tried this I'm fully committed to the Gamma Professional 17.
I use this as cross string for my wilson blade racquet. It softens the contacts as full poly was hurting my arm.
Good all around playability.
This string is great. It is lively yet easy on the arm. I particularly like its feel and feedback. It is not harsh like a mono-filament, and it also provides a great combination of power and control. I string it at 52 lbs, which is the lower range of the recommended tension for my racquet.
Really great strings, do all they promise. Great feel, touch and control with good power. They absolutely bite the ball, and stop hard serves like a catcher's mitt -- return them like a curve ball. We've all seen how pros sometimes hit a ball wide by a foot or more that curls back into court, these strings have that kind of controlled spin. Will put on all my racquets eventually.
With the price of this string, you will be amaze on what it can do if you want extra spin with your shots. Lower the tension to get that extra kick.
I love the feel of this string but I wish it lasted longer
Great feel, Good spin, not for a frequent string breaker. I am a 57 year old 3.5 -4 level doubles player playing 4 times per week. I tried poly for one match and took it out right after, it was to hard on my arm and no feel. Gamma syn gut has the right balance of feel and spin and it is easy on my arm. I would recommend giving it a try if you do not like polyester and are not a frequent string breaker.
I have now used these strings for about 10+ years. Love them for the level of control and forgiveness to tennis elbow issues. It usually last me about 6 months of play.
My wife has played this string for a decade. After an arm injury I decided to go away from the polyester hybrid I've been using for years. To my surprise I still find plenty of spin with these strings and overall my control and feel are much improved. I honestly like these strings better than the polys... there is a bit less spin than those offer, but the feel, control, depth and overall touch are all better... In the end this string is pretty hard to beat.
This string has the feel of much more expensive string. I used to be a chronic string breaker and could not use a 17 gauge string. However, with this string I use 17 gauge and get the spin and feel I like but the string lasts much longer than other strings I have used.
These were the strings that were recommended for my new racquet. They are fine, I must admit that I can't really tell much difference between various strings.
Good for the money and good feel.
This is the best overall string from GAMMA for the price. Good spin control; great life.
Bought it for a Christmas gift and love it
I'm a 4.0 player and use a Dunlop Aerogel 4G. I strung this at 57 lbs in the mains with TNT on the crosses and it's got a nice combination of spin, power, and control. The mains tend to move around quite a bit after the first couple hrs but other than that, it's good.
First, I think the strings played well for me, not a hard hitter ay 71 yo. BUT, the string Broke after 12 hours of play ! Sorry, that is an awful short time. Never in my tennis life have I had a string break anywhere near that short of time. The good news, MIDWEST has reinbursed me with a New set of Strings ( the same). -Ron M.
Midwest Sports is simply the best. I never have any problem with the store.
Incredible access to spin gives me more control on angle shots, on my first serves to the T, on kicker 2nd serves. My backhand slice and dropshots are killers. And with all that access to spin I can hit as hard as I am capable of. And it lasts longer than average nylon strings.
I absolutely LOVE this string. Excellent feel, decent bite. The only problem is durability. After using about 5 packs, I was averaging 3 sets per string package. If feel is most important, I highly recommend. David 4.5 NTRP
Have used this string for many year now. Have tried others but keep coming back. Bests syn gut out there for the money.
Great overall value for the price. Does have a good amount of duribility as advertised and is very playable. Strung several of the kids racquets with this string and they love it. Placed in my own racquet yesterday and also thought it played very well. Good feel.....and easy to string.
