Cute, but sizing is off

I generally wear 7.5,. Bought these in 8 for extra room, and they are hitting right at the big toe. Probably would need 8.5, but now I am not sure how comfortable they are. I love my NB tennis sneakers bc they are wider in the toe box, even though I have narrow feet, I don't like when they are tight everywhere. But this pair, seems off.
