Kirschbaum Max Power Rough 16G (1.30mm) Tennis String
KirschbaumOn sale, it was about 1/3rd the price! Do not let the word "rough" fool you, this is a smooth string, and would do great in either crosses or mains. In the crosses, it is best when paired with a spin-friendly string like Weiss-Canon's Ultra Cable or Volkl's Cyclone. Or even with natural gut, if you seek max.playability. The mains will slide right back. In the crosses, it is a crisp string with good power characteristics, and it does not compromise on control. I paired it with Ashway's Monogut ZX 16 in the crosses, and it is a splendid combo. Solid power with more than adequate control. And there is no sponginess, which suits me just fine. The string does get dull after about 20 hours of doubles play and may need to be replaced, but that would be the case with most polyesters.
A crisp poly that is not great but above average in spin. It shines in its power and control balance. With fast strokes, it is easy to keep the ball deep, and directed. The pocketing is just enough to produce spin on hard shots preventing them from flying out. Easy on the arm, too. The price is special, and this is something players who like Luxilon ALU Power Rough can look as more than adequate and far cheaper alternative.
The string allowed the racquet a lot of power and control to the play, and it made the racquet feel better than many other strings.
