Babolat Pure Aero 98 – Solid, Spin-Friendly, and Surprisingly Controlled
This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

After taking a few years off from tennis, I’ve recently returned to the game and wanted a racquet that would support both consistency and modern topspin play. I demoed three popular frames to find the right fit: the Babolat Pure Aero 98, Yonex Ezone 100, and Babolat Pure Drive 100. Out of the three, the Pure Aero 98 stood out immediately. While the Ezone 100 felt plush and forgiving and the Pure Drive had that classic power, the Aero 98 offered something I hadn’t experienced before—a blend of control, spin, and solid feel that really suited my evolving game. It’s my first time using a racquet that’s marketed as "spin-friendly," and I can confidently say it lived up to the hype. Feel & Control: The Pure Aero 98 has a more compact 98 sq. in. head compared to the 100 sq. in. frames of the others, and I definitely noticed the tighter sweet spot. But when I made clean contact, the feedback was incredibly solid and satisfying. There's a sense of connectedness with the ball that gave me confidence on aggressive shots without feeling overpowered. Spin Potential: Spin is where this racquet really shines. I was able to get great bite on the ball, especially on topspin forehands and kick serves. It rewards a full, fast swing, and even off-center shots had more dip and margin than I’m used to. Coming from a more traditional flat-hitting background, I was surprised at how quickly I adapted to using more spin—and how much it helped me stay in points longer. Serve & Net Play: On serve, I found good pace and excellent kick. Flat serves weren’t as explosive as with the Pure Drive, but the added spin made placement and variation more effective. At the net, the racquet felt maneuverable enough, though not the most plush—it rewards clean technique. Who It’s For: I’d recommend the Pure Aero 98 to intermediate to advanced players who want a modern frame that blends control and spin potential without sacrificing too much power. If you like to swing out and shape your shots, this racquet complements that style. It’s not as forgiving on off-center hits as a 100 sq. in. frame, but the trade-off is worth it if you value precision.

I just bought this since I've had the Pure Aero VS for the past few years. It's a great update and looks awesome as well. Next step is playing like Carlos!
